Homaar x Chico Togni & Kadija de Paula
During the MALT AIR residency in collaboration with Maltfabrikken, Kunsthal Aarhus and the Danish Art Workshops, Chico Togni and Kadija de Paula designed the REMIX CHAIR.
Made from an innovative material, panels made from recycled cotton and wool, the REMIX CHAIR is inspired by Enzo Mari's manual Autoprogettazione. In this book, published in 1974, the Italian designer defines a series of self-made pieces of furniture, establishing the principles of "good design": design that responds to the strict needs of mankind, with the ambition of teaching everyone what industrial design is and developing a critical view of this industry.
In their artistic practice, Chico Togni and Kadija de Paula create situations and events that question the value of natural resources and social practices. They combine food, text and performance to create "events" and social experiments to create installations and everyday objects from recycled objects and materials, avoiding anything that should not have been produced or anything that will soon be exhausted.
