Mohamed Bourouissa - Photography El Gringo
Mohamed Bourouissa has published 5 photographs in exclusivity with Homaar that mark the beginning of his research for this series that made him known. In 2009, during a residency in Rio de Janeiro, the artist surrounded himself with acquaintances and friends to depict daily life in the marvellous city in the form of history paintings, genre scenes or landscapes.
InEl Gringo, a game of seduction between two young person seems to be taking place. Seemingly soft, light and naive, this photograph evokes a much more bitter reality, that of the white man who comes to court Brazilian women. The landscape gives way to urban frenzy and romance is replaced by desire.
